The hotel is situated on 3.4 acres leased from the Alaska Railroad and was completely remodeled in 2013. The hotel is located close to Pioneer Park, a picturesque location. The Ice Classic and weekend flea market are held close to the hotel during summer and the hotel also has access to the Chena River.

Fairbanks entices visitors from all over the world for the Northern Lights, Arctic Wilderness and the neighboring Denali Park not to mention its proximity to the Eielson Air Force Base. Aurora Borealis brings in tourists during winter as well. Tour companies who sell the Alaska Tourism package include the ship cruise operators who schedule an overnight stay in Fairbanks.
