Michael Sammartino has been a government guaranteed lending specialist since 2001, closing over $400 Million in SBA and USDA guaranteed loans. Michael was formally the Director of Business Development for a small bank in Rhode Island for 16 years. Mike has extensive experience in loan origination, performing site visits, underwriting and presenting to the credit committee, interacting with government-guaranteed offices, assisting attorneys in closing and servicing loans. Michael is considered to be one of the most knowledgeable and capable guaranteed lenders.
Over the years, Michael has built many niche-lending specialties. While he can work with any business, he is well known for his expertise in Maritime Lending (all work boat types, dry docks, fishing vessels, processing plants and ferry boats), Hospitality and Manufacturing. His expertise has brought him to all areas of the United States and its territories where U.S. Government Guaranteed Loans are available, including the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Alaska, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Prior to banking, Michael was the President of a manufacturing company in Providence, RI where he increased sales ten-fold over a 6-year period and sold the business to a competitor. Michael credits his experience and success as a small business owner with his successful commercial lending career.
Michael has served on the Tax Board of Review for the City of Providence, RI, and the Compensation Commission for the town of North Kingston, RI. He spends his free time gardening, working out and traveling. Michael graduated from Hartwick College in 1990. He lives in Rhode Island with his wife, and they have two adult children.
